The
Initial Assessment
The initial assessment is performed once at the beginning of the program.
During this step we survey the play area and assess its overall condition.
This information is used to determine the cost and scope for the
"Tune Up".
- Surfacing:
- Note the type and condition
- Check average depth to comply with safety requirements
- Play Equipment:
- Graph, layout and photography of area
- Identify components and evaluate condition
- Complete the "Play Area Survey" with owner
- Safety Evaluation:
- Adequate usage zones between play equipment and other objects
- Over-exposed or dangerous hardware
- Entrapment spaces
- Sharp points or edges
- Tripping hazards
- Guardrails for elevated surfaces
Tune-Up
The tune-up should be done one to three times a year depending
on use and condition. At this time we check the entire
play area for safety hazards and perform routine maintenance.
We will customize the "Tune-Up" to your requirements and
those of the manufacturer. The following is an overview
of the services performed in this step.
- Play Equipment:
- Check for broken and/or missing components
- Check all fastners/hardware, tighten when necessary
- Replace missing hardware (if available)
- Visually inspect metal components for cracks and breakage
- Repair minor scratches, rust and sharp edges
- Inspect vinyl-coated decks for damage, repair minor
damage with touch-up
- Remove minor burrs and sharp edges on metal and plastic
- Inspect "S" hooks for gaps, close if necessary
- Remove debris from play equipment
- Issue a report to the owner
- Surfacing:
- Check depth
- Redistribute in low areas
- Recommend to owner if any addition or repair is needed
The
Scheduled Inspection
This periodic inspection is recommended between "Tune-Ups".
For play areas that only require a "tune-up" once a year,
the inspection can assure you of the safety of the play
area throughout the year. During this step we will visually
sinspect the entire area in addition to clean and distribute
the surface material when needed. The following is an overview
of the service that are performed in this step.
- Play Equipment:
- Visually inspect metal components for cracks and breakage
- Check for brocken/missing components
- Check all fastners/hardware, tighten when necessary
- Remove debris from play equipment
- Surfacing:
- Check depth
- Redistribute in low areas
- Recommend to owner if any addition/repair is needed
